My favorite podcasts
/I rarely listen to music.
I love music, and when I'm in the mood for it, I'll often go to a selection of playlists on my phone (mostly 60s, 80s, 90s, and country music, not a fan of the 70s!).
However I listen to podcasts all the time: at the gym, on my runs, when walking around the mall or driving...
Here are some of my favorite podcasts I subscribe to (in no particular order):
HBR IdeaCast
by the Harvard Business Review
Interviews with top CEOs and experts. Not every episode is interesting or educational, but most are.
Lex Fridman Podcast
by Lex Fridman
One of the most diverse and interesting podcasts out there. Long (3-4 hour) long interviews with leading individuals from a variety of fields, including Artificial Intelligence, Cryptocurrencies, Biology, Medicine, Martial Arts, Physics, Mathematics, Economy, Philosophy, Genetics, and much more.
Probably my favorite from the list.
The MCAT Podcast
by Dr. Ryan Gray
I toyed with the idea of going back to Med School during the 2020 lockdown and I spent 2 months studying for the MCAT (the med school entrance exam).
Eventually life got in the way and I couldn't dedicate enough time for it, but I remain addicted to the knowledge.
Nature Podcast
by Springer Nature
Why? Because Nature is one of the oldest (since 1869) and most prestigious scientific publications in the world!
They cover a range of scientific topics, recapping the latest research.
The Peter Attia Drive
by Dr. Peter Attia
Peter is an engineer, medical doctor, anti-ageing and metabolic disease specialist, and endurance athlete.
He interviews leading medical doctors and scientists in a variety of medical fields, with a particular focus on nutrition, metabolic health, and anti-ageing.
Found My Fitness
by Dr. Rhonda Patrick
Dr. Patrick is one of the leading anti-ageing and metabolic scientists out there.
She interviews leading experts in those fields.
Stephanomics
by Bloomberg
Interesting insights on global business and economic developments.
The Tim Ferris Show
by Tim Ferris
Tim probably needs no introduction, but he interviews a wide variety of leaders, ranging from the likes of Arnold Schwarzenegger, Ray Dalio, Sam Harris, to experts on Crypto, athletes and many more.
I pick and chose episodes to listen to.
Front End Chatter
by Simon Hargreaves & Martin Fitz-Gibbons
Because I still love motorcycles even though I stopped riding them on the race track!
Others
Others I listen to occasionally & selectively, depending on who the interview guest is or the topic covered:
Ben Greenfield Fitness (health & fitness)
Bulletproof Radio (health & fitness)
The Fight with Teddy Atlas (MMA & Boxing)
Impact Theory with Tom Bilyeu (diverse)
The Rich Roll Podcast (health & fitness)
Super Human Radio (health & fitness)
The Tony Robbins Podcast (diverse)
Finally: the app I use to listen to podcasts is Overcast. I like it because I allows me to listen to podcasts much faster than other apps I've tried.
Many apps (including Overcast) allow you to increase the speed you listen at. But Overcast has a unique feature which, when switched on, detects the moments of silence during the conversations and erases them. You cannot believe how much "dead silence" happens in a conversation.
Enjoy!
