Unfortunately we live in a world where the frequency and severity of cancer cases are witnessing a dramatic rise.
It is hard to pinpoint a specific cause for this horrible development.
I’ve written extensively in the past about various studies showing the increased risk of cancer due to a number of factors.
Diet: such as overconsumption of sugar (which acts as food for cancerous cells), chemicals (preservatives, pesticides, herbicides, all labeled as cancerous by the WHO), overconsumption of processed meats (sausages, canned meats, etc)…
Lifestyle: lack of exercise, exposure to indoor toxic air, pollution, stress, lack of sleep, overexposure to blue light, etc…
So yes there are things we can do from a diet and lifestyle point of view to reduce the risk of cancer, but this doesn’t change the fact that cancer rates are rising.
What this new study (https://bit.ly/2J9yyfs) out of the US looks at is the impact of a cancer patient’s fitness on the likelihood of that patient dying from the disease.
They looked at almost 700 men diagnosed with various forms of cancer.
They discovered a direct and INVERSE correlation between the level of cardiovascular fitness of the men (prior to getting cancer) and their probability of dying from the disease.
They discovered that “active” individuals had a 23% LOWER risk of death compared to those who were not active (remember that we’re talking about cancer patients here, the % of reduced risk of cancer in the general population is even higher for “fit” people).
In fact, the study found that there is a “dose response” relationship: the MORE FIT the men were, the LOWER the risk of death was. So it wasn’t just about “being fit”:
Men (with cancer) who regularly participated in “vigorous cardiovascular exercise” had up to a 51% LOWER risk of death from cancer, that’s more than HALF!
The main message of this study is this: the MORE FIT you are, the LOWER THE RISK of cancer, and should you (God forbid) get the disease, your CHANCE OF SURVIVAL is much higher.
