How coffee can cause weight gain

Did you know that coffee can cause weight gain?

I love coffee. No, I LOVE coffee. I get the best beans I possibly can (and even visited plantations in Ethiopia). I roast and grind my own beans.

Nothing beats the aroma of freshly brewed coffee in the morning.

BUT!

I limit my drinking to 1 cup per day (sometimes 2 max).

Just like most things in life, a little is good for you, a lot is bad.

When it comes to coffee and weight gain, most nutritionists and personal trainers will tell you that the caffeine in coffee increases your metabolism and so helps you lose weight.

Again: this is true in small quantities.

But if you drink more than 2 cups a day, you're causing your adrenal glands to secrete cortisol (stress hormone) many times during the day.

This, in turn, leads to major insulin fluctuations, which lead to frequent cravings for sugar and carbs.

Bottom line: too much coffee can cause overeating of sugar/carbs, eventually causing weight gain.
